A Pelvoux vige la legge del "Bonma" . L'ha capito pure Kilian Jornet che, complice alcuni problemi di materiali, si è dovuto arrendere allo stapotere del discesista transalpino. Sempre davanti a dettare i tempi al resto della ciurma, il fenomeno catalano si è poi visto passare nell'ultima discesa dai transalpini Bon Mardion e Jacquemoud. Per noi quarta piazza di uno strepitoso Damiano "Lence" Lenzi e quinto di un altrettanto stellare Robert Antonioli. Nei dieci pure Mandred Reichegger settimo, Matteo Eydallin ottavo e nono Michele Boscacci. Fuori dai dieci un propositivo Galizzi e un dolorante per acciacchi fisici Pietro Lanfranchi. Al femminile una Roux in versione "ufo" ha fatto gara a se. Seconda piazza Axelle Mallaret che in volata ha passato la nostra Gloriana Pellissier. Ottava Elena Nicolini e fuori dai dieci la giovane Elisa Compagnoni. Per lei un bronzo espoir, come per Boscacci. Arfento invece per Antonioli.

LA CRONACA:

Partito “a tutta” già sulla prima salita, lo spagnolo Kilian Jornet sembrava destinato a conquistare l’oro  e a bissare il successo dei Mondiali di Claut 2011, ma l’impressionante progressione dei francesi William Bon Mardion e Matheo Jacquemod ha relegato l’iberico al terzo posto. Bon Mardion, come al solito ha stretto i denti in salita per poi dare spettacolo ai cambi d'assetto. Impressionate anche il giovane Jacquemoud che, allo sprint, si mette così l’argento mondiale al collo e mette in cassaforte l’oro vinto nella categoria Espoir. Netto successo per William Bon Mardion che su queste stesse nevi un anno fa conquistò l’oro europeo e oggi si consacra al vertice dello scialpinismo mondiale.

I nostri restano ai piedi del podio con l’ossolano Damiano Lenzi che  firma una delle più belle prestazioni della sua carriera. Quinto posto per un altro astro nascente dello skialp azzurro: Robert Antonioli. Il fenomeno di Valfurva conquista l’argento nella categoria Espoir dimostrandosi molto più competitivo in salita e sempre irresistibile in discesa.  «C’è mancato l’acuto nella prova senior uomini ma sotto il profilo del valore di squadra siamo assolutamente soddisfatti – ha commentato Oscar Angeloni, tecnico della nazionale italiana di scialpinismo –, mentre tra le donne Gloriana Pellisier ha compiuto l’ennesima prova maiuscola».

L’Italia resta prima nel medagliere mondiale, ma domani è la volta della prova Vertical, una salita di oltre 600 metri di dislivello da superare d’un soffio sulle nevi di Pelvoux. Favorito d’obbligo lo spagnolo Jornet che dovrà vedersela con il francese Matheo Jacquemoud, ma attenzione ai nostri: gli stessi cinque azzurri che oggi si sono classificati nei primi dieci posti daranno del filo da torcere ai due favoriti.

Up to the last second there was a battle in this race where nothing was settled between the men. Off at speed at 9h20 this morning under a more than generous sun, the favourites such as Killian JORNET, William BON MARDION, Mathéo JACQUEMOUD literally ate up the 1645m of altitude difference announced. At the halfway point, Killian JORNET led the race with only 35s advance on Mathéo and 50s on William. An experienced Alpine skier, William BON MARDION made the difference downhill and rapidly caught up the first place by finishing with 30 seconds advance over Mathéo and Killian.

William BON MARDION thus takes the victory in 1h22'36s, and just behind, the battle between Killian JORNET and Mathéo JACQUEMOUD continued right up to the arrival entry. Killian was leading right up to 300m from the finish line, Mathéo JACQUEMOUD literally up to his skis. The young French hopeful of this discipline never gave up, and fought right up to the finish line. He tore off a fantastic victory over the man that everyone saw as unbeatable, Killian JORNET BURGADA (1h23'07" + 1min penalty at the finish). The arrival area full of emotion and joy, the 3 protagonists who know each other well congratulated themselves while the 4th and 5th places for these World Championships fell to the Italians, Damiano LENZI (1h25'02") and Robert ANTONIOLI (1h25'20").

On the women's side, Laetitia ROUX and Miriea MIRO VALERA (ESP) were in front at the start of the race. But straight after the first technically difficult passages, Laetitia's Spanish teammate during the big mountain races, left her to run ahead. At the summit Laetitia ROUX counted 5 minutes advance on her challengers, Gloriana PELLISSIER (IT) in second place and Mireia MIRO VALERA at her heels. Axelle MOLLARET, the young French hopeful with whom Laetitia took the gold on Sunday for the Team race, was holding the 4th place at 8 minutes behind Laetitia. She then ran a fantastic return leg by successively overtaking Miriea MIRO VALERA, outgoing World Champion and the Italian Gloriana PELLISSIER who she overtook during the last part of the parcourse, getting in before her at only 2 seconds at the finish.
