Kilian Jornet Burgada e Laetitia Roux vincono l’ultima prova del weekend francese di Coppa del Mondo.  Questa mattina sulle nevi di Puy Saint Vincent si è chiuso il primo weekend del circuito Scarpa ISMF World Cup. Gli atleti del circo bianco dovevano recuperare la Vertical Race inizialmente in programma sul Monte Olimpo. Il tracciato di gara prevedeva un dislivello positivo di 620 metri con partenza da Puy Saint Vincent 1600 e arrivo nei pressi della stazione a monte di Le Cret.

La prova era riservata solo ai Senior, gli uomini sono partiti qualche minuto dopo le 9 e seguire è stata la volta delle donne. Subito dopo il via, il gruppo si è allungato tirato da Kilian, a metà gara Kilian era saldamente al comando inseguito dal tedesco Anton Palzer e dallo svizzero Werner Marti, poco dietro salivano Marc Pinsach Rubiola e Damiano Lenzi. Nel rettilineo finale lo spagnolo si gira un paio di volte per controllare il vantaggio su Palzer. Kilian taglia il traguardo fermando il cronometro in 25’30’’ alle sue spalle, con soli cinque secondi di ritardo, Anton Palzer. Conferma la terza posizione Werner Marti con il tempo di 25’53’’.

In quarta posizione si classifica Marc Pinsach Rubiola, l’azzurro Damino Lenzi è quinto. In campo femminile Laetitia Roux porta a casa la terza medaglia d’oro del weekend, anche in questa prova la francese non ha fatto un ritmo elevatissimo sin dall’inizio, ha scaldato il motore in vista dell’ultimo allungo prima del traguardo. Per buona parte di gara la Roux è salita insieme alla svizzera Victoria Kreuzer, alle loro spalle la giovanissima Axelle Mollaret e Claudia Galicia Cotrina. La principessa di Puy Saint Vincent vince con il tempo di 30’26’’, Victoria Kreuzer è seconda con soli diciassette secondi di ritardo. Axelle Mollaret sale sul terzo gradino del podio, mentre Claudia Galicia Cotrina e l’italiana Katia Tomatis sono rispettivamente quarta e quinta. Il prossimo appuntamento del circuito Scarpa ISMF World Cup sarà in occasione della Font Blanca in Andorra il 24 e 25 gennaio.

Earlier today, the snow of Puy Saint Vincent saw the end of the first weekend’s Scarpa ISMF World Cup. The white circus athletes had to make up for the Vertical Race initially planned on Monte Olympe.
The tracing track included a 620metre gradient, starting at Puy Saint Vincent 1600 and finishing near the station upstream of Le Cret.
That was a Senior-only race, the men’s team left a few minutes past 9 am, then it was the turn of the women’s team.
Just after the word ‘go’, the group stretched out, pulled by Kilian. At mid-race, Kilian was firmly in the lead, chased by the German Anton Palzer and by the Swiss Werner Marti, with Marc Pinsach Rubiola and Damiano Lenzi just slightly lagging behind. In the last straight stretch, the Spanish turned back a couple of times to make sure he was still ahead of Palzer. Kilian reached the finishing line with a time of 25’30’’, with Anton Palzer lagging behind by just five seconds. Werner Marti confirms his third place with 25’53’’. Marc Pinsach Rubiola takes fourth place and the Italian Damino Lenzi comes fifth.
In the women’s category, Laetitia Roux brings home the third gold medal of the weekend. In this challenge too, the French girl had not run so fast since the start, she stepped up a gear just before the last stretch with the finishing line looming ahead. For most of the race, Roux climbed up alongside the Swiss Victoria Kreuzer, followed by a very young Axelle Mollaret and by Claudia Galicia Cotrina.
The princess of Puy Saint Vincent wins with 30’26’’, Victoria Kreuzer is second, just seventeen seconds later. Axelle Mollaret climbs the first step of the podium, while Claudia Galicia Cotrina and the Italian Katia Tomatis are fourth and fifth, respectively.
The next Scarpa ISMF World Cup will take place to coincide with the Font Blanca, in Andorra, on 24 and 25 January.
